VISION AWARD

The Vision Award recognizes a producer’s ability to keep a dramatic, feature length film in focus during the journey of the project.

ONE IN A MILLION

The One In A Million awards honor feature length stories made for under a million dollars. One narrative and one documentary film are each awarded.

AUDIENCE AWARD

The SVFF Audience Award is the voice of the people.

GEM STATE AWARD

Presented by festival sponsor Zions Bank, this $1,000 jury prize recognizes an Idaho filmmaker whose work best reflects the beauty and diversity of the Gem State.

2016 WINNER: Matthew Wade, Plena Stellarum

 

HOT SHOT AWARD

The Hot Shot Award is presented to best film helmed by a student filmmaker under 18 years old. The recipient will receive a $500 cash reward, sponsored by the Marshall Frankel Foundation.

2016 WINNER: Dora Schoenberg with The Story of three rings: a memoir of Dana Schwartz

 

SHORTY AWARD

The Shorty Award goes to the best short story film, no matter the genre or aesthetic

ONE POTATO

One Potato Award is given to best original screenplay set to be filmed in Idaho.  Each winner will recieve $5000 towards filming in Idaho and other technical and professional in-kind support from SVFF.  Special thanks to Airstream Adventures Northwest for their additional sponsorship support of this award.

HIGH SCRIBE

The High Scribe Award is presented to best original screenplay during Screenwriters Lab.

2016 WINNER: Ben Nabor & Michael Tyburski, Palimpsest

 

THE FILM LAB

The Film Lab Award is given to the winner of this competition of two Work-in-Progress films. Audience members participate in the selection of the The Lab’s winning film, which will receive $5000 in finishing funds courtesy of Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

WILD TO INSPIRE

One lucky winner will get to try their hand at filmmaking National Geographic style as they depart on an expedition to Africa to document wildlife for Nat Geo WILD viewers.

SVFF LIFETIME VISION AWARD honoring Oliver Stone

The SVFF Lifetime Vision Award pays tribute to an individual who has provided the keen insight, influence, and initiative to fulfill a creative vision.

 

PIONEER AWARD honoring Mark Duplass

The new SVFF Pioneer Award honors an individual whose career choices are reflective of a true trailblazer.

 

SNOW ANGEL AWARD honoring Dianna Cohen

The new SVFF Snow Angel Award is given for outstanding advocacy work in environmental sustainability. Dianna Cohen, CEO of the Plastic Pollution Coalition (PPC), is being honored this year.  The PPC is a global alliance of individuals, organizations, businesses and policymakers working toward a world free of plastic pollution and its toxic impact on humans, animals, the ocean and the environment. The SVFF has partnered with the PPC to bring attention to the important work of this nonprofit organization.

 

HARRIMAN AWARD honoring Bruce Dern

The Harriman Award is presented to an individual whose diverse body of work embodies the innovative spirit of Sun Valley’s founder, Averell Harriman.
