Svff has invited fans and filmmakers to celebrate the magic of storytelling

OUR HISTORY

Since 2012, SVFF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has hosted the annual Sun Valley Film Festival featuring a slate of cutting-edge films and TV premieres, industry panels, engaging Coffee Talks with entertainment luminaries, a Screenwriters Lab led by award-winning writers, and a series of parties culminating with the spectacular Awards Bash. In 2022, with the support of a generous benefactor, it expanded its offerings to include year-round film related programming.  Through continued Patron support, SVFF also builds education and outreach programs, which develop young filmmakers and professionals by illuminating the process of filmmaking and propelling emerging voices with grants and education.

SVFF invites guests to be a part of the legacy of storytellers, artists and filmmakers that have defined the town’s rich cinematic history. From screenings in the snow to an unforgettable reception at Hemingway’s restored hunting lodge, SVFF captures the spirit of a bygone era: one that comes alive for one magical weekend.

In tandem with the town’s cinematic past, the SVFF’s intimate accessibility attracts industry icons who return year after year, creating a community of artists that define the Festival’s unique atmosphere. Festival guests include Hollywood legends such as Clint Eastwood, Jodie Foster, Gwyneth Paltrow, Geena Davis, Oliver Stone, Meg Ryan, Amy Poehler, Woody Harrelson and Josh Brolin as well as avant-garde writers and filmmakers like Stephen Gaghan, Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi and Mark and Jay Duplass, to name a few.

In 2025 SVFF moves to December, and positions itself as a “must-stop” on the industry awards circuit and not-to-be missed kick off for the holiday season.  SVFF continues to enhance the cultural fabric of our community with the best and brightest in film.
